How To Repurpose Content To Save Hours of Time
‘Content creation is so painful & takes forever’ - let me show you why it doesn’t have to be!
For a lot of us content creation is something that we might do every day or at least a couple of times a week. A lot of my clients would come to me and tell me things like: it takes too much time, I don’t know what to write about, I suck at content …
With this post I want to show you how to create content the smart way. Namely creating ONE piece of content and using it many different ways to be really efficient with your time & the thoughts you put into your content.
If you haven’t read it yet I do recommend Gary V’s book on this topic. He introduces the idea of having unique content for the different social media platforms, adapting the style / voice so it fits the specific platform. Even with adapting the content slightly, it is our choice of making this content creation hard or easy for us!
This is best illustrated with an example:
So what kind of content do I personally create out of ONE Facebook live? If you haven’t seen any of my Facebook lives you are a) missing out and b) should you know that I am very particular about my Facebook lives. I like them to be short and super value packed, centered around one topic I carefully picked beforehand.
I will do the Facebook live (around 15 minutes long) and out of this Facebook live we (as in my assistant helps me do this) can then go ahead and create a ton of more content out of it.
The Facebook live will be turned into a blog post like this one and published to my website
There will be pins created for the specific blog post, leading to it (& from the blog post we will have one call to action at the end, either a freebie, join my Facebook group or something like that)
We can feature the first intro seconds of the Facebook live in my Instagram stories
3-5 Instagram posts are created based on the content of the live
3 Facebook posts are created
A LinkedIn post is created
And a YouTube video can be created out of it too (either as unique content, filmed new or transformed slightly to make it stand out but without the hassle of having to film a new one)
These are at least 12 more content pieces of one Facebook live. And yes obviously the content still needs to be written and adapted but once you have a longer blog post (created out of your notes for the Facebook live) it is so easy to cut it into smaller, relevant individual Facebook posts.
What else can you do with a Facebook live?
Two main things come to my mind:
A Facebook live from a business page could be boosted (similar to a Facebook ad but easier to set up) to a new audience
And if the Facebook live is done well, it can easily be turned into a Freebie and thus actively grow your email list & community!
Wasn’t that so easy, effortlessly and still fun? Let’s decide to build awesome businesses the smart & fun way, will we?
What can YOU do to transform your content today?
