Top Three Mistakes I See Entrepreneurs Do That Stop Them From Getting Clients
What are the top three mistakes I see entrepreneurs do all the time? (These are exactly the things that you do not want to do)
MISTAKE NUMBER (1) - Doing everything backwards
I see entrepreneurs starting their business but doing everything backwards, they are doing everything in completely the wrong order. If you are just starting your business, you don’t need a website, a logo, professional branding, professional photoshoot etc.
So what do you need? CLIENTS!
In order to gain clients, you need to be really clear on your message and what it is that you’ll be doing to serve your clients. You don’t need to start by looking all ‘professional’, when really you have no idea about what it is that you want to be doing!
You need to start at point one and move strategically to point ten. You don’t want to start at point ten with a beautiful website and branding, however you don’t know where you will gain clients or what you should be doing next.
You want to be in a position where your clients are magnetized to you, people come to YOU as they understand your message and really want to work with YOU. You are visible through the value you provide and you attract clients without having to find them yourself.
I am in this position and I didn’t have a website at the start of my business.
You need to start at point ONE! So figure out what exactly it is you want to be doing, who’s your target audience, what kind of transformation do you want to help your clients have. Then, you start building relationships, start giving value and putting yourself out there. Tell people this is who I am and these are the problems I can help you to solve!
Just start! Start by being you, start by crafting your message, start by understanding why you’re on this planet and what you want to help people with.
Don’t do everything backwards, start at the beginning. It will not help you by investing a lot of money on branding and a website, that is point ten. Start at point one, getting clear on your message! You want to make sure you have a solid foundation, then you can move on to the next steps.
MISTAKE NUMBER (2) - creating an offer that you are personally in love with versus an offer which actually sells
Before you create a product or service, you need to talk to your ideal clients, the people who you want to serve. You want to create something that people NEED. You need to understand your audience, where are they? What do they need? Where are they stuck? What kind of transformation do you want to provide them with? Once you know the answers to these questions, then you can package your service or product around them and how to best fulfil your ideal clients needs.
This is such a crucial step, you cannot skip it, as you’ll just waste lots of time and money otherwise. It doesn’t matter what the product or service is, you should NOT start developing something when you don’t even know whether it’s needed. Otherwise, what if you create something but then no one buys it? What a waste of time.
Don’t skip the beginning in order to sacrifice it for the rest of the journey.
Speak to your clients first and be so clear on who it is you want to serve and who you could help. Then figuring out what it is they need will be easier. You have to dig deep though and really understand your ideal clients pain points. How can you solve their problem or help them from not feeling stuck?
The most successful entrepreneurs do exactly this - they take the client's pain point and they find a solution. They create a new offer that sells because they are releasing the pain of their clients, they are finding a cure to what it is they are struggling with.
We want to find an offer that sells instead of an offer that just sounds good to us. An offer that your audience is craving, you want them to come to you instead of the other way around.
If you create an offer that is exactly what your clients need, they’ll be so excited for the product or service, they’ll be waiting for you to finish creating it so they can purchase it. To do this you really need to get into the head of your ideal clients and not just look at them superficially. Listen to them and do your research.
MISTAKE NUMBER (3) - letting perfectionism get in the way of starting
What differentiates you from anyone else who has a big dream of being an entrepreneur? It’s that you are STARTING! You are ready to take the first step. You don’t want to just keep dreaming, you want to get things going and you want to start right NOW! Not in a year from now, not in ten years, but today.
When I started my entrepreneurial journey I had to let go of being perfect, otherwise I would not be where I am right now. When I started I had no audience, no office, no contract, no website, no branding etc. If I wanted everything to be perfect, if I waited until I had everything ready I still wouldn’t have ‘started’ and wouldn’t be where I am right now.
You need to take the first step, as you will never be one hundred percent ready anyways, so you might as well just start! Don't let the fear of not being perfect get in your way, you would be holding yourself back from so much.
It isn’t being sloppy or not giving your all just because it isn’t one hundred percent perfect. It is better to just start and not worry about whether you are doing everything perfect, otherwise you’ll struggle to move forward and achieve your dreams. Don’t let your fear control you.
This is where mindset plays a fundamental part in your entrepreneurial journey. As some people simply can’t move forward because their fears keep taking over.
The key point about mistake number three and what we learn from it is: YOU HAVE TO START WITHOUT THE PERFECTIONISM! You have to let go of it and you will find yourself at a great place in which you can just go ahead and start.

Think about even if you were just sixty percent ready, wouldn’t it be better than a step you never took? Wouldn’t it be better than not moving forward at all?
This is what I truly believe in and that’s why my business grew so fast because I simply took the ACTION without needing it to be one hundred percent perfect.
