When people think of being an entrepreneur and having your own business, people think you need to develop a completely new, different product the world has never seen before or have a complicated startup involving many different elements. However, this is untrue, there is an easier way to have your own online business. You can start a service based business, using the skills and knowledge you are ALREADY an expert in.
Wonder how that works? Secretly believing that YOU don’t have any skills to offer people that could be marketed online? I’m here to tell you, that isn’t true, the majority of people I meet do have skills and experience that can be turned into an online business.
Think of the skill you’re best at, the one you’ve honed over the years and simply package it up and market it to the people who need it the most. This is the easiest way to start your own online business, you don’t have to learn new skills, use the knowledge and experience you already have.
The beauty of a service based business is that the set up is relatively easy as you don’t need to develop products and the start up costs are fairly minimal. You simply need a computer, good wifi and your time. You can even get started without fancy branding, a website or spending loads on marketing. Social media is free and a great place to get started with marketing yourself and becoming known for what you do.
You can provide your services 1on1, in small groups, workshops or via a course program that you’ve developed. If you ask me, personally I always believe in working with clients 1on1 first and only THEN develop a course - as the course should summarize the problems that most of your ideal clients deal with.
EXAMPLES OF HOW TO USE YOUR CURRENT SKILLS TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS:
> Are you an investment manager? You could teach entrepreneurs how to invest their money. There is a HUGE market for this. I have been asked many times where & how to invest because of my corporate finance background.
> You have planned your own disability friendly travel for years? This is an awesome service to offer online to others.
> Have you worked in administration for big corporations? You probably know how to streamline processes and write standard operating procedures! Very much needed in growing startups.
> Have you been making your own YouTube videos just for fun? You probably have great skills at editing videos and an eye for design, this is a very sought-after skill in the creative industry.
> Are you a lawyer or tax advisor? If you want to focus on digital nomads, there will already be hundreds of entrepreneurs willing to pay for your services. There is a massive lack of knowledge in this field.
> Have you perfected the art of decluttering and living a minimalist lifestyle? Great! So many people have too much stuff and there is shift in many wanting to live more simply, go and declutter.
> Do you love social media and have grown all your accounts over the years? This is always going to be an industry with many business owners seeking assistance with. Everyone wants to know the strategies and tips on how to grow their accounts too.
Your online business can but doesn’t have to be correlated to the jobs you have done previously or the education you have gotten over the years.
Think outside of the box!

> Katherine has consumed hundreds of hours working on her negative mindset, getting rid of limiting beliefs and on establishing healthy habits. She is now teaching others how to create a healthy mindset routine too.
> Jeanine was fed up with all the negative news in the world, studied what is out there and just consumed positivity for a year. She has now started her own digital news agency focused on positive news.
> Silke has been around horses for most of her life and is now creating an online course for horse owners to keep their horses healthy and happy.
Not everyone has to be an entrepreneur, should be an entrepreneur or even wants to be an entrepreneur, but those out there who would love to, who feel like it would change their lives (totally will!) should go for it. ALL IN. No holding back.
I want to encourage others to live their most fulfilled life, to have freedom and to be able to achieve success. For some, this can be achieved through having your own online business.
But, most people don’t know where to start or what they would offer. It can be an extremely overwhelming journey. I have a course dedicated to future CEO’s, it has a step by step approach taking out the guesswork. Building your business from starting right at the basics, from identifying your ideal client, developing your service package, personal branding, marketing yourself and then selling.
